Anyone that knows me knows that I consume coffee morning, noon, and night. It's not a productive day in the office without a few cups and it certainly isn't a proper dinner unless it ends in coffee and dessert. Sadly, I have a love/hate relationship with coffee's best characteristic, caffeine. We all know that caffeine is one of those things we should enjoy in moderation due to the less than pleasant effects it can have on your body. Recently, I've gone from being a 6 cup a day drinker of coffee to just a 2 cups a day drinker because of the undesirable side effects I often experience, the biggest being my surge in anxiety. I know it's so hard to completely cut out this delicious drug from your diet, so I think if you're going to drink it, you have to get the best stuff in town.
I met my college best friends this morning to catch up and enjoy a great cup of coffee and snack, and with the recommendation of a friend, we found ourselves off Broadway at K Brew. I often drink my coffee black but since it was such a hot summer day, I went with an iced mocha. The fun think about this place is that I can accommodate my dairy intolerance by getting my drink with almond milk, yum! While there, chatting with the brew crew, I learned that one of the baristas doesn't eat gluten so thy frequently have gluten free snacks, which is a bonus for those of you that normally can't enjoy the pastries that are usually sold at coffee shops.

The coolest part of this Knoxville find isn't even the coffee, it's the fun outdoor covered seating. Take your pick from hammocks that hang from the ceiling or large picnic tables that look out onto the street. For those wanting a cool quiet place to relax, there is also a large seating area inside. It's safe to say, we had too much fun swinging in the hammocks and enjoying the sunshine with our iced coffee.
Since caffeinated drinks can sometimes cause problems in your diet, I would suggest trying decaf coffee beverages or even switching to decaffeinated tea (which can also have some excellent health benefits). If you're a coffee addict like me, cutting your intake in half each week might make you feel a little better without having to give it up completely. Like I mentioned earlier, I went from drinking 3 cups of coffee before lunch to just one about an hour into my morning, that way I get the taste and the warmth without the afternoon jitters and headache. This place was such a great find for my coffee drinking friends and I because they were able to make drink moderations without it costing you an arm and a leg. They use Cruze Farms milk, which I've learned since moving to Knoxville is the cream of the crop when it comes to dairy beverages. Their pastries are great for sharing with friends and they provide a toaster oven for you to heat them to your liking.
